Every year the council organises a garden competition across the borough. All tenants are eligible to enter the competition and each year we are receiving more and more entrants into the gardening extravaganza. The competition opens in the spring, with judging taking place in the summer. There will be a star-studded awards evening for winners and guests in the autumn. Do you think your garden has what it takes to win this year? Then please contact the Participation Development Team on 01384 815168 or email the Participation Development Team. This years categories include: · Garden · Hanging Basket/Container · Sheltered Housing Scheme · High Rise Scheme
During 2007 the summer was not the sun-filled spectacular we were all hoping for, with lots of rain and strong winds. Many tenants in Dudley struggled against difficult conditions to ensure that this year's garden compitition went ahead. This year we had a whopping 57 entrants with 28 of those being first timers! Judging took place in July with the standard of entrants being exceedingly high, making it hard to choose an overall winner. After careful consideration it was agreed amongst the judges that Mr G. Withers of Halesowen should take top spot. Well Done Mr Withers. Everyone that took part in the competition received a commemorative certificate.
