Make it Happen 2023!

Dudley Public Health know that people in the borough make amazing things happen in their communities. We want to support these ideas and inspire people to come together to make even more great things happen. To do so, the Community Development Workers are currently planning for our next Make It Happen! event.

We warmly invite you to attend the event on Saturday 18th November 2023 at Wellington Road Community Centre, 27 Wellington Road, Dudley, DY1 1UB. We hope that you will be inspired by the amazing things that local people want to do and will get involved by chatting to each project and offering support or ideas that will help them to succeed.

The event will start at 10am and end at 3pm and lunch will be provided.

What is Make it Happen!?

Make it Happen! encourages local people to work together, share and connect with other local people, projects, and resources. The event is a great way to network and find out more about the great things happening in yourlocal community, as well as accessing support for your own community projects.

At the event, groups and individuals will have the opportunity to share their idea for a community project and the difference it will make. After hearing from each project, participants at the event will beable to make offers of support to enable the group / individual to deliver their community project.

Previous offers have included time, sharing of skills and resources to help with craft sessions, garden benches and seeds, amongst many other things! Groups/individuals will also be able to request small amounts of funding from the Council’s Public Health Team, which will be allocated on the day.

Since 2017, Make it Happen! ideas have already been turned into action and at the event you will also hear from previous projects about the impact Make It Happen! has had on their project ideas.

Have a project idea?

Do you live or volunteer in Dudley borough and have an idea for a project that will improve the local community and make a difference to local people?

You don’t need any previous experience of applying for funding and you don’t need to be part of an established group or project. The Healthy Communities Team will support you throughout to complete a simple application process (Ideas Canvas), share your idea at the event and get your project started.

If you would like to put forward a project idea then please contact:

The Healthy Community Team at: HealthyCommunities@dudley.gov.uk or 01384 814528

Where a Community Development Worker will then be in touch to support you in completing the Ideas Canvas (which will need to be completed and returned to Julie by Friday 3rd November 2023.)

Come on! Get thinking, get creative, get together and ultimately MAKE IT HAPPEN!
